Laura Bertolini

How are your poetries born?

Poetry has lived within me since I was a child. In time, it has overcome an evolution; it has changed meaning and value. Every phase of my poetry had a different characteristic and changed with the seasons. I can tell you of so many ways in which my poetry has been brought to life through my writing. Even how I compose the words has changed. Before I used pen, now I use computer software. What still remains unchanged is the root of my poetic expression.
This root is nourished by human emotions which is fed by sensations and imagination. In the past it was fed by a lot of pain, I wrote as if I was vomiting words.
Today, that pain is dissolved and as a result, I write less. Sometimes in the middle of the night, I wake up with the words going around in my head, almost like if there was someone that sings them to me. At that point I have to get out of bed and write them somewhere, otherwise I forget them. The next day when I get up I read them and decide if they can become poetry or not.

What is for you to be an artist?

I think I am an artist because I make my destiny without following anyone else's.
I give directions to my steps, as well as to my passions. Through poetry, I was capable of sharing these passions with others.

Tell us a short story about one of your poems:

The one I prefer the most is usually the one I just finished. There is one in particular that is appreciated around the world. "I am about to leave everything" was written a couple of nights before my marriage; I knew all too well that I was sacrificing my beloved Tuscany to go live in the other side of the world. I wrote it in a moment of extreme anger!
I read it to my husband during the cerimony, before the "yes". This poem had the honor to be translated into english and was published in the Poetic Anthology of California. It is part of a collection of poems called Extreme Fishing, available on Amazon.

What inspires you?

Basically nature and human beings.

What do you expect from the listener?

I expect that they simply listen. Not to pretend to understand what I want to express, but that they take these words as if it were theirs.

6.Do you have any dreams still to become true? and what are your future projects?

I am not an ambitious person, so I have made my dreams come true day by day. My wish list is to make memories.
Currently I have a new anthology of poems ready to be published. I have all the materials, I am just waiting for my designer to put all together and make them into a book.

If you were a question what question would you be?

I ponder one question, the people who know me will understand why. As a question I would be "do you love me"?  <3
